The Institution

Sardar Patel +2 High School has stood on this road since 2000. What follows is an honest account of how it came to be, and how it is run today.

Our Story

The school began in 2000 in three rented rooms off the main road. The founding committee was made up of farmers, a retired postmaster and two teachers who had left government service. They had no building plan and no donor. What they had was a register with eighty-two names in it.

Recognition for the secondary section came in 2004. The science block followed in 2011, paid for over four years in instalments. The +2 wing was sanctioned in 2016, and with it the school finally became what its name promised.

We have never advertised. Every family that comes here was told about us by another family. That is a slower way to grow, and it is the only kind of growth we trust.

Our Vision

That no child from this block should have to leave home to find a school worth attending. We want the standard here to be the reason families stay.

Our Mission

To teach every subject to understanding rather than to memory, to keep our classes small enough that no child disappears in them, and to hold the same rules for everybody.

From the Principal’s Desk

“A school is not its building. It is what a child does when nobody is watching.”

I have taught here for 24 years, and in that time the thing I have learned to look for is not the child who tops the class. It is the child who owns up when the work is not done. That habit outlasts every mark sheet we will ever print.

Our teachers are asked to do three things: know the subject, know the child, and keep the parent informed. Everything else — the laboratories, the buses, the smart boards — is only there to make those three easier.

My number is with the office. If something at this school is not working for your child, I would rather hear it from you than read it later.

Happy Families

My daughter came here in Class VI barely able to read English. She stood second in her board. The teachers simply did not give up on her.

What I value most is the discipline. The gate shuts at 7:30 and that has taught my son more than any lecture from me ever did.

The evening doubt clinic before the boards was the difference. I could walk in with one question and stay for an hour.

The hostel wardens call me every week without my asking. As a mother living forty kilometres away, that is everything.

Both my sons studied here. The fees were never raised mid-session and the receipt was always in my hand the same day. For a family like ours that matters as much as the marks.
